The creator of this bowl achieved a remarkable sense of movement within the carved effigy atop the rim of this masterfully executed bowl. The round bowl with rounded bottom is hewn wafer thin and evenly throughout. The Manitou is dynamic and almost animate in nature, its arms or wings outstretched taking one into the belly of the bowl.

The head has a curious partially carved point to the center—it is not a hole, stopping at 1/16" or so. It may represent the being’s eye or serve as a directional device.

The bowl's silky smooth surface, complex patination and color further add to its sensual quality.
